Indium Phosphide/Zinc Sulfide (InP/ZnS) Quantum Dots are core-shell high-luminosity semiconductor crystals with an inner core of Indium Phosphide encapsulated by an outer core of Zinc Sulfide. InP/ZnS quantum dots can be stabilized with oleylamine legends and are soluble in various organic solvents such as toluene with spectra emissions ranging from 530 nanometers (nm) to 650 nanometers (nm) wavelengths, these quantum dots possess the novel property of having an extremely narrow emission spectrum (Gaussian Distribution) that is directly proportional to the particle's size.
Indium phosphide zinc sulfide-based (InP/ZnS) quantum dots that offer high performance while eliminating the use of cadmium, a toxic level element with zero use tolerance for purpose-built commercial application. They are an environmentally-friendly, heavy metal-free, high performance alternative to cadmium based quantum dots for research and teaching applications.
InP/ZnS core/shell Quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) have been considered as potential display technologies with the characterizations of high color purity, flexibility, transparency, and cost efficiency. For the practical applications, the development of heavy-metal-free QD-LEDs from environment-friendly materials is the most important issue to reduce the impacts on human health and environmental pollution.
Heavy-metal-free InP/ZnS core/shell QDs with different fluorescence can be prepared by green synthesis method with low cost, safe, and environment-friendly precursors. The InP/ZnS core/shell QDs with maximum fluorescence peak at 530 nm, superior fluorescence quantum yield of 60.1%, and full width at half maximum of 55 nm can applied as an emission layer to fabricate multilayered QD-LEDs.
InP quantum dots (QDs) are nontoxic emitters, which are considered an alternative to CdSe-based QDs. Quantum dot are much more efficient and cost-effective when compared to their silicon solar cells counterparts. Quantum dot can be produced using simple chemical reactions and can help to save manufacturing costs as a result.
